Elective ward admissions are planned admission, usually for the purpose of a certain procedure/operation/surgery or treatment.
Your doctor would have discussed with you regarding the need for admission.
In the event the admission is during OFFICE HOURS

Your admission process would be finalised
•
If not using corporate/personal GL, you can settle the deposit payment here by cash or credit card facility.
•
You will be assigned to your room for your current hospital stay.
•
In the event your assigned room is not ready yet, you may be assigned a temporary lodging room, subject to room availabilty.
•
After admission, your doctor will see you in the ward or the operating room for final review before the surgery.

Your admission would be into the In-patient wards or Daycare ward.
Admission can be during any day of the week, usually already pre-agreed between the patient and the admitting doctor.
Usually you would have been informed by the clinic or hospital staff about your prior Guarantee Letter (GL) approval from your
insurance company before your admission.
Alternatively, hospital deposit payment using cash or credit card facility is also available on admission.
For patients undergoing SURGERY UNDER GENERAL ANESTHESIA (GA), please remember to start
FASTING (STRICTLY NO food or drinks. NOT EVEN PLAIN WATER) 6 HOURS BEFORE THE TIME OF SCHEDULED
SURGERY (even though you may be admitted less than 6 hours before your surgery).
eg. planned surgery 930am, planned admission into Daycare 730am through A&E Dept, so you need to start fasting at home itself latest
by 330am the same day.
Failure to do so may result in your surgery being delayed or cancelled for the day altogether !
The purpose of fasting is to empty your stomach to prevent backflow of stomach contents into your lungs during the administration of GA.
Therefore fasting is done for safety reasons in the best interest of the patients
